Urinary problems w/Topamax?

Posted by SheilaC on June 26, 2007, at 5:50:33

It has been years since I used Topamax. I had to stop taking it because it was bothering my bladder (but, it could have been the Celexa I took with it).

Recently, I tried taking Effexor, which I love, love, love, but it made me pee 60 times a day (no joke). So, I had to stop that after 3 days!

I am having a real problem finding a mood stabilizer and it would be great to find something that would help me sleep.

I take Wellbutrin and Xanax during the day. Could I start with a low dose of about 25mg of Topamax to see if it would work?

Years ago I stopped taking it because it made my bladder hurt. Has anyone else had urinary problems with Topamax?

I know a few posters that got kidney stones on topamax. I think it's wonderful that you feel so great on your current cocktail. Congrats on that. Love Phillipa

Topamax was in the mix of meds I was on last winter. I was taking 600 mg. Not sure if that was the med doing it, but I was having trouble with bedwetting at night. I am down to 300 mg. a day now. I have no bedwetting problems anymore. I was on Cipralex (Lexapro in U.S, I think). It's similar to Celexa, and I'm still taking 20 mg. a day of it. One other med I've discontinued was 2700 mg. of Neurontin (Gabapentin) used as a mood stabilizer. Hope this helps.
