Hey all. Well I'm back because we're still trying to find a good combo to help stabilize my Bipolar I Mixed with Rapid Cycling, Borderline PD and All the Anxiety/Panic Disorders.
It's now clear I HAVE to take something to combat the depressive part of my Bipolar. I've tried them all but not in combination with certain mood stabilizers.
So right now the thought is maybe adding just 5mg of Lexapro to the now 250mg of Depakote and 3mg of Xanax XR I take each day. I am one who seems to do better on low doses and cannot tolerate high doses of anything (except things for anxiety as my anxiety is so severe).
Again we're grasping at straws. And Geodon and the like don't really do much for my depression although I've been prescribed those types of meds for both depression and mood stabilization. I do however take 25-50mg of Seroquel at night, but that's for sleep (along with 3mg Lunesta).
Has anyone ever tried this combo? Lexapro and Depakote? What about at such low strengths? What about with Bipolar or Borderline PD?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am constantly on the search for something to stabilize me. The past 2 weeks have been horrible with SEVERE mixed episodes all the time.
Thank everyone. Have a great day/night!

Also I should add that Lamictal makes me manic and feel horrible. And drives my anxiety through the roof. I just want to add that because everytime I post something it seems as though someone says try Lamictal. I have tried it 5 times I think and it just doesn't work for me no matter what it's combined with. :(

Baby Bunny I've always needed low doses of ad's as high doses don't cut it. No highs though. I was thinking of switching from luvox to 5mg of lexapro too. So your pdoc thinks that will work for depression 5mg? Love Phillipa

I don't know about the Depakote. But my pdoc was thinking about starting me on that with the 20mg of Lexapro I'm taking. I know that 10mg is the standard therapeutic dose, but I believe that people who are sensitive to meds can do fine on less than a therapeutic dose.
I am currently taking 20mg Lexapro and 50mg Lamictal. The Lamictal is supposedly not a therapeutic dose, but I've felt normal for the first time since starting it.
Try it and see. I'm not bipolar, I'm taking the Lamictal for help with major depression. But my brother is and I know how frustrating med trials can be.

Yes she does as they do now make 5mg tabs and she sees that I am very sensitive to meds. Unfortunately though she is not a very "caring" Doctor and won't let me try Tegretol (which I never have) or many other meds, so I made an appointment with another Psychiatrist in a month to see if he will maybe be a little more open-minded.
I don't like being told no when nothing else works. I am willing to try anything to feel better. And I am one who is always different... I am the 1 in 100 that something totally off will work for. I have the opposite reaction to many drugs in which I am prescribed. It's weird. And it is bad too as I just want to have a good day.
I can only remember 1 day where I was truly happy since November. I do have moments but not days. I need my days back! My life! I miss it so much! And I feel so bad for My Loved ones. It's so hard on everyone.
Anyway sorry to go on and on. I just felt the need to write, I guess. I do that sometimes. LOL
Take care everyone.
