Hi,
could anyone tell me what side effects they had from risperdal and when they went away. I feel better on 1 mg then 2mg. Just curious as to what other people have felt.

i actually lost my sex drive due to risperdal but I took a higher dose with a max dose of ssris for about 3 months...your dose isn't that high but if you feel like your sex drive is gone while taking the drug I would consider discontinuing asap of course see the psychiatrist before tapering off and switching drugs. Do a search on risperdal on wikipedia is hurts your dopamine neurons and can lead to bad sh*t especailly higher the risk of TD in woman. Right now a year after taking risperdal and the ssris my libido is next to nothing. I am going to try to get it back tho via other drugs such as deprynl. I would consider taking benzos or ssris before risperdal or even abilify...gl with everything whichever you choose.

I have taken ablify and serquel. Both were terrible. I dont really like this one either. I take prozac for my depression and anxiety. Trying to find something for the bipolar.

Bipolar usually doesn't require antipsychotics, so if you can avoid them (especially long-term)...that'd be a good thing. If you do take antipsychotics, you might want to try taking antioxidants (C, E, etc); that might reduce the TD risk.
With bipolar, some patients who use antipsychotics long-term use them in fluctuating doses; up for mania, down when more stable, so on, so forth....that might be a good option.

I felt calmer, but it gave me very bad edema so I had to stop it. If you feel better on a lower dose, then go for the lower dose.
