Ok...I give up on any other ad working for me the way Lexapro does. I am just such a zombie. I do seem to feel somewhat better by evening (which may just be common to depression) but I wondered if anyone else had split their Lexapro dosage? I take 20mg. Was thinking of trying half in the am and half at bedtime. It used to give me insomnia if I tried to take it at bedtime but maybe the smaller dose won't have as much of an effect.
Just wondered if anyone else had done it and with what results...
Thanks

Well, I started out taking 10mg and then it stopped working so I went up to 20 mg. You definitely can split the tablet without it being a problem (some tablets you can't split safely), but I would ask your pdoc if you should do that.
Another thought is that my pdoc has me take it in the morning to avoid the insomnia problem. Maybe shifting the time you take it would help.

I started by taking 10mg several years ago. After 6 months I noticed that it wasn't working as well. The doctor upped the dose to 20. I have been on 20 since then (about 4 years now). It absolutely kept me from getting to sleep easily. It seemed to interrupt the natural flow of melatonin. Rather than prescribe a sleeping drug, the doctor wisely told me to start taking Benadryl as needed. That makes me sleepy enough to get to sleep, then I had no problem staying asleep.
After taking Celexa for 2 weeks, I went back to Lexapro. It keeps me focused, in control and mellow (without feeling and acting like a zombie).
This is the end of the thread.
