If you're referring to natural supplements (herbs, vitamins, etc.), you need to check out the Psychobabble Alternatives board.

They work more on the adrenal glands and possibly HPA axis whereas valium and xanax works on the GABA system. There a herb and come in capsules, i take 2 a day.

seditol (on the second link) might be what your looking for.
Also, the NMDA antagonist l-theanine definelty works for depression anxiety stress and supposedly bi-polar (not in a position to comment there.) I would highly recommend both products - they have put me back on the road to recovery.
Ive tried magnolia rhodiola complex previously too (a combo of relora, theanine and rhodiola.) which obviously just gives a combined effect.

So how would one switch over to these herbs while on the diazapames?. As they are addicting . But still work some and have been on the benzos for over 30years. Can they be taken and do some kind of wean at the same time or since I take nothing during the day would they be good to take then? I'm getting desperate as antipsychotics are not the answer too many unknown side effects beginning to emerge now thanks so much Love Phillipa
