Bromocriptine............worth a try???!!!

Posted by rovers95 on June 12, 2007, at 0:03:44

Just wondering if anyone though bromo is worth a try for depression, social anxiety and low libido................?????

I am doing OK at the moment, but want that "boost" in terms of pleasure in life (dopaminergenic i think) - i have tried mirapex and it did nothing!!!!

I tried bromocriptine (parlodel) only to get nauseated all the time. It calmed me for the first few days, but after that it began to disturb my sleep. Provoked early morning awakenings, which is indicative of depression coming back. I soon left it and never regretted then.

One sidenote: It can intensify orgasm. But that too was short-lived

It can cause congestion of the nose and sinuses.

I sort of liked the effect, but that was the limiting factor for me.

Just finished attempting to use it as a augment to parnate, and although it was/is short lived,it is nothing like other dopamine drugs ive used,i.e Deprenyl, provigil, psycho stimulants, even caffiene.

Cant put my finger on it,but i find it not to be stimulating at all,and ive seemed to become worse on it,again i cant be certain since more than one med,the parnate also is invovled, but if i had to id say it was the bromocriptine and im gladly out of it today and dont plan on using it or any other ergot drugs in the future.

Personaly i recomend liquid deprenyl over most dopamine mediated drugs.

I took about half the dose (don't remember what it was) about 20 years ago for elevated levels of prolactin. It was pure mental and physical agony. I was stoned out of my mind and it was very unpleasant. Didn't know where I was or what I was doing. For some bizzare reason I cannot explain, it caused intense rectal pain. Horrific headaches, nausea, and anything you can imagine. I can't believe this drug is still out there. I would never take any drug now that affects dopamine - and I didn't even take it for depression or social anxiety or anything along those lines!

On the other hand, a friend who had high levels of prolactin, took it and had no trouble had all! Go figure!
