Hi - I am new here. My doctor has offered to me to participate in a trial with saredutant. I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with this drug? I have taken Zoloft for quite some time but the decreased sex drive is getting to be too much. I tried Wellbutrin too but that caused a lot of agitation (I have anxiety issues as well). Thanks for any info/insight anyone can offer!

Saredutant's an experimental medication, one of the more exciting ones in the pipeline for depression and anxiety.
____
"NK1 receptor antagonist
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Neurokinin NK1 antagonists are a novel class of medications that possesses unique antidepressant[1], anxiolytic[2], and antiemetic properties. The NK2 and NK3 receptors are also targets for novel classes of medications, and also show prominent antidepressive and anxiolytic effects.[3]"
_____________________________________Saredutant, I believe, is supposed to be an NK2 antagonist, and is in Phase III trials. Mostly, you can never know for certain the safety of an experimental medication, but it sounds like a very interesting opportunity. I believe this class of meds are considered promising. They have a new mechanism of action, as compared to everything that's been used for the past five decades.

> Saredutant, I believe, is supposed to be an NK2 antagonist, and is in Phase III trials. It is indeed currently in Phase III trials. I know of one university med center nearby to me which is still recruiting participants. In terms of US availability, if clinical trials bear out for FDA approval, I think we are talking years.
There are some posts on this board about the med and trials when searching the archives. Some of the posts are over two years old, however.
