Can Topamax lead to depression and or Zombiness ie BLAH!!!! What are alternatives? Do they have the same negative side effects?

What are you trying to medicate with Topamax? If it's a bipolar disorder then yes, there are other mood stabilizers like Lamictal that are less likely to cause this problem long-term. Lamictal has a different side effect profile to Topamax and you might find it more tolerable.

Topomax definitely made me feel more depressed. I had to discontinue it after about 8 weeks for that reason.

Lamictal was fine just had an uncommon side effect and really didn't need a mood stabalizer so dropped it. Give it a try. Love Phillipa

I couldn't tolerate Topamax..made me "word search" like crazy..and felt totally out of it..
