For over year my anxiety has been increasing. In the past 4 months, it has reached new heights. Last night I woke up and I couldn't catch my breath.
Work is causing the stress. I can't handle it. I used always thank God that I didn't suffer from anxiety and now I do ... I realise why I was thanking God.
This must be wrecking havok on my adrenal system. I take thorazine some nights when I am really bad, but I don't want to depend on meds. In the meantime, I fear I may lose my job or that I will have to quit.
Any advice?
It hasn't increased since I started the imipramine.

Benzos are an almost sure bet for temporary relief of anxiety. Long-term...continued use might relieve anxiety, but you might have some problems tapering off.
If you're going to be on meds long-term anyway, it may as well be a benzo--they're non-toxic and really safe (and cheap). Thorazine..not so much.

Maxie could it be that the depression is getting better? But working and volunteering are too much in your fragile state. I know you need money any business you can do from Home? Love Phillipa

Thanks. I already take 3 mg of Klonopin at night. I am down from 4 mg. I started at .25 mg over 10 years ago and just needed more and more. It was for sleep and not anxiety.
Maybe I should take it in the day instead of at night. It doesn't make me sleepy anymore, but maybe it will at least calm me and my body will get its fix.

Phillipa
There is no way that my depression is getting any better ... trust me.
No, I can't think of work I can do from home plus I would be unhappy doing it unless it was something very mentally challenging.
Thanks.

Maxime,
I didn't know you were working! I'm really proud of you. I'm sorry I don't have any good answers for you. What if anything makes you less anxious?

Hi MB
The only thing that makes me less anxious is knocking myself out with Thorazine. :( Otherwise I am a ball of anxiety 24/7. And I can't take thorazine on daily basis because it makes me lactate.

Maxie not trying to be mean it's a joke but since you lactate on a lot of meds maybe you could bottle the milk and have your own business. I'm sorry about the anxiety. How do you work with it? What coping mechanisms do you use? Love Phillipa

I feel your pain. I never thought I had a problem with anxiety, and it has just started haunting me to the extreme. I am taking Xanax, but I really don't want to. And I'm not even anxious about anything! Sometimes my head will be tired/spacey, and my body is freaking out.
