I have a nickname for this pdoc of mine

Posted by scratchpad on May 25, 2007, at 12:35:58

I think his name is MudBucket.

Today he upped my Xanax and Ambien and told me to "hang in there" and "work on sleeping". Uh huh. I asked him about the Campral I take for alcohol craving - which he writes the scrip for - because I haven't seen any information about whether it's safe or effective to take for longer than a year. I've been on it 21 months. He said, "I don't really know anything about that one." He thinks that I'm not even at a therapeutic dosage but "doesn't really know."

Uh huh. So if anyone wants anything prescribed, I think I know where to go.

I'm going to have to do some serious homework, or ask my neurologist if he has any recommendations. I just don't feel like I'm in good hands with Dr MudBucket.

I've got a nickname for mine, too -- Dr Dorky -- but that's meant in an adoring sort of a way. I think you should come back here and see Dr Dorky. He won't do that, and has been known to google medications during appointments to see if he thinks they're interesting options.

And he once looked up the Heisenburg principle for me, because it came into his monkey brain during an appointment.

Your Dr MudBucket doesn't inspire much confidence in me, either, and I wish I could email you a copy of Dr Dorky. I wish you were in better hands...

Don't suppose you could look for yet another, hoping this time to find, oh, I don't know -- basic competence with the medications he prescribes?

By the way, I'll say it in front of the whole world -- I had a great time with you during your visit.

xoxo

I had a great time, too!!!
Thanks, and I'd appreciate a clone of Dr Dorky with an immediate opening in his schedule.

Campral. Nothing I've read online has said anything about using it beyond a year. Though I understood it's been used in Europe for a long time - maybe I just have to dig deeper.
I just wish this doc wasn't so vague. What's he doing writing scrips if he doesn't understand the medication???? Yikes.

Yup saw the typo after clicking the button oh well. I'll see if I can find anything too. Love Phillipa and no he shouldn't be using it if he doesn't know the length of time but then the ad trials are for weeks is there an expiration on them? I don't know the answer. Love Phillipa

I had a nickname for my former pdoc, but I can't say it here without getting a PBC. :) It was long and graphic.

I'm happy with my pdoc now, and I don't have a nickname for him.
