Hi all,
Been on the 6mg for 1 month today and I am still liking it. I am sleeping fine 8-11 hrs a night.
I have gained a few lbs but I don't blame that on the EMSAM. I quit smoking and taking stims right before I started it. I think it would be worse if not for EMSAM.I still am unhappy with my level of motivation (always a problem for me) I will see my Dr this week and ask about going up to the 9mg. If I have something to do I do it fine it's just that left to my own devices I will just lay around.
I am not depressed nor anxious and my brain is alert. I am more socially inclined and relaxed around people.
I don't have any side effects to speak of. I am quite happy with this med all in all.
Questions:
will it matter if I put the patch on my lower body? Like hip?Has anyone overlapped the patches to increase the effect? Example; applying a fresh patch a few hours early and leaving on the old one for a few hrs. I have done this for 2-3 days in a row to see if I could discern a positive effect perhaps indicating that I might benefit from the next step up. The 9mg patch.
Emsam seems to have surged and sputtered here and there on me over the weeks. Like about a week and a half ago I had a few really good days followed by about 5 days of sleeping 1/2 the day and feeling kind of blah. This is when I began to experiment with overlapping and it seemed to help. I did not do this last night and today I feel only so-so. I will try overlapping again today and see if that helps.
Thats all I know for now.
Take Care,
Kaye

I saw my p-doc today and he is all about Namenda. It sounds good, very safe and he is on it himself. Says he is putting all his ADD folks on it.
I am going to stay on EMSAM 6mg, which BTW seems to getting better day by day for me. My mood is the best its been since I can't remember and not anxious or hyper either. Maybe it's just starting to really kick in.
He gave me samples of the Namenda and I am to start with 5mg a day for one week then 10mg for a week then 20 mg for a week. He says to see which is best 10mg or 20mg.
I took my first dose about an hour ago.
I am excited about this med! My Dr. loves it and says that all the neurologists are taking it themselves.
Anyone have experience with this med??
Thanks!
Kaye

I am baffled that you are sleeping so much on Emsam bec it has a "stimulating effect" in the majority of ppl. However, this is further proof that every med affects everyone differently.
Then again, the X factor is other meds you may be taking with Emsam. Are you taking anything else? I just have to believe Emsam alone will cause you to be more "stimulated" throughout the day.
No side effects? Not surprised, neither did I, well except for insomnia first few weeks.
Patches on lower body? On each box or patch there is a photo of all the places, which includes spaces on lower body. My fav place was always upper and lower back.
Overlapping patches? Interesting experiment. I say go up to the 9mg patch on next order.
Emsam sputtering? Thats common with any med. Takes two months for you really to know how you are going to feel on a consistent basis.
Proud of your progress. Michael

>Hi Michael!
I have been on stims for awhile so by comparison EMSAM is just a tickle when it comes to being stimulating. I am sleeping now on average 9 hrs. But it is good sleep and I feel rested when I awaken. If I had to get up for work or what have you I could probably do fine on less. Emsam is definately stimulating just not to the degree I am accustom to.My Dr. scratches his head too when it comes to my responses to meds.
