I see a lot of postings on Maois.While ive been on a few not all,ive read a LOT about them all,probuably for the past 5 years,from users to articles.
- Parnate There is for some a immediate initial response,a stimulant one,this will likly subside to a more neutral feeling.
Contary to this,it does seem to look as if the same situation with the nardil formulation,that this i guess PRO of parnate is becomming less and less the case.
There was a time when a user could skim by on the recomended dose of parnate,i.e 60 mg.
Again for whatever reason this seems to be very unlikly now,and we are seeing average almost consisent info providing that over 60 mg is needed for a proper therputic affect.90 seems to be a min while well into the 120-150 seems to be common and practical.
Anyone else notice this trend?Coincindence it happens at the same time A the generic form becomes available B the orginal form itself is changed.So formulation change has in fact taken place,we are told least i was by the company that this has no bearing on the med,but i think the board speaks louder.
- Expect almost indefinatly to have insomnia on parnate and be prepared to treat it.
- Expect the liklyhood of having to add a benzo and possably more to it.
- Expect 3 weeks min at a proper dose to judge its overall worth.
- Remeber while they are effective,for MANY more effective many times over than ssris,they STILL are meds and dont expect the common "poop out" and ineffective frustrations it will have time to time.
- DONT expect to have a reaction on it as severe as made seem,just remeber it is possable and prepare for it.- DONT expect lol your penis to shrink,sorry guy,i wish i knew the answer to that,but i dont think its a common issue,and very well might be caused by parnate,if it is however,i would not expect it to continue.
- Expect a increases sex drive on parnate,with still sexual side effects evident.
- Expect a possable loss of apetitite.
- DONT expect to be unable to continue adding many meds,i.e benzos,mood stablizers etc,as parnate actualy works well with many,u just cant add many AD`S to it but its unlikly youll want to,opposed to benzos and other forms of drugs.
This is just my experiance with the drug,i can only speak so on parnate not all maois,as obviously parnate and Nardil do have many many different charactirstics.

B/C I gave up on Nardil when I reached 90 mgs and it was no longer working. My doc didn't have much experience with MAOI's, so wasn't comfortable with me going beyong the recommended dose. Should I have stuck with the Nardil at a much higher dose (if so, what dose?).
