Dextromethorphan is the best antidepressant so far for me. I take 200 mgs a day. I've been self medicating for depression with excellent results. It is a serotonin/dopamine reuptake inhibitor (also an nmda antagonnist at higher doses). It can induce mania but i take it with lamictal and seroquel to reduce the mania. For those of you that have had poor response to antidepressants i would suggest you try dextromehtorphan(it is easy to get, it's available over the counter)

Just make sure you pick cough syrups containing only dextromethorphan( most cough syrups contain other active ingredients besides dextromethorphan)

Unless I read it wrong your info indicates it is quite dangerous and carries serious side effects. Comparable to psychedelics? Love Phillipa

I don't want to lecture too much because it makes me feel guilty, but using DXM is very dangerous. I know a lot of people who abuse it just to trip out or get messed up, and some of them have had bad experiences.
If you use too much, it can make you really sick or even trigger seizures. It's probably bad for you to use long-term as well. Cough medicine is only meant to be used for a few days at a time.
What else have you tried for the depression? Are there really no ther options?

I've robo-tripped in the past. Didn't really enjoy it. Which is a good thing, because now that I'm on Nardil, I could kiss my butt goodbye if I did it again.

DXM is not dangerous at all as an antidepressant, its often used in combination with stimulants or opiates to stop an ongoing tolerance

DXM in doses from around 300mg to 800mg are common for "psychedelic" use... i have taken 1000mg before and im still fine.... do some reading on DXM its actually quite similar to both ketamine and PCP which are being studied and tested for their psychotropic benefits....
if your taking it daily i would recommend getting actual DXM powder or tablets instead of drinking cough syrup though.... or jsut make your own
