Just skimming through the thread and saw your post.
In my experience the lithium side effects, such
as heaviness of limbs, sedation, and lethargy *do* go away in time, but in my case thyroxine was added. Also, I never took lithium with divalproex. What remains in side effects after many years, for me, is some lethargy, thirst and
frequent voiding, but on a very regular basis, all other things like perspiration, salt intake, coffee and diet being equal. I find the agitation odd-- i don't know where that is coming from for you, unlikely that is the lithium unless the dose is low or the divalproex has other effects.

Sup Squiggles,
Yeah I'm not sure where the agitation comes from... I suffer from alot of agitation from my bipolar II illness, so I wonder if this is a part of it...Thats good news that the side-effects decreased for you.. One of my major issues is this mental fog I get? I really hope that it decreases over time, what do u think?

distinction between the Bipolar versions-- yes
I am almost a senior citizen.:-) However, my
dr. did give me clonazepam for anxiety. I am
still not sure if the anxiety was part of the bipolar disorder -- it's a complicated case.

I really hope that it decreases over time, what do u think?I never got mental fog from lithium. One of the reasons I am a great proponent of this drug is the clarity of mental state it provides, IF you don't go toxic. As you are taking another drug as well, I can't say where the "mental fog" is coming from.
