Wellbutrin: Does it take longer than 2 weeks?

Posted by JayBTV on May 1, 2007, at 9:09:54

Been back on Wellbutrin (300mg) for two weeks now (150mg the first week). Honestly I feel worse today than I have in a while. Been waking up after intense dreams with huge anxiety/hopelessness feelings.

I'm hoping someone can vouch that it can "kick in" after the 2 week point after being somewhat un-noticable.

Feel like I've been through everything else (yes, including Nardil) - so I'm hoping it might turn on at somepoint.

Thanks for any replies,

-Jason

I would expect noting at week 2. 6-8 weeks is standard for the AD effects to start kicking it.

Did it work before sounds like you took it before. I know quite a few people that find it very helpful. Hoping you do too. Love Phillipa

I always took it as an adjunct to an SSRI, and only in dosages up to 150mg....so very hard to say.

Oh well, guess I'm going to wait it out anyway. Was just hoping some Wellbutrin person could say like "the 3rd week it magically made me feel good" :)

Thanks for the replies, though...

I started WB as an adjunct to Cymbalta, and it kicked in pretty quickly. On its own, though, I think it usually takes longer to work. The downside is that it can be activating, and some people find that increases their anxiety. On the other hand, if you're experiencing heightened anxiety, I'd say that bodes well for it working for you again.

None of that is actual information, but my poor brain is elsewhere today. I hope it offers you some hope, though.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies! I think it may be the hightened anxiety Racer mentioned....but I dunno, I just hope it helps me get over the hump at somepoint. So far I haven't noticed too much.
