Sressed and depressed

Posted by Guy on March 30, 2007, at 18:16:26

It's now more than 10 years since I crashed and burned with severe insomnia, panic and anxiety. Tried all kinds of SSRI's TCA's and AP's. Currently taking 5 mg of Zyprexa for sleep but feel extremely hung over every day. Big bags under my eyes and a general sluggish feeling...almost as if I have been poisoned. Not sure what to do, but am extremely depressed because I have been unhealthy for so long. Just want to wake up one morning feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day...maybe in another lifetime. It sure ain't going to happen in this one.

It's probably Nardil time for you. Ask your doc.

listen, don't listen to your shrink about the antipsychotics: they suck. Ever wonder why schizophrenics quit their meds? THEY SUCK. So maybe the zyprexa needs to be dropped. When you say you "feel poisoned," you're not totally off base. Its rough stuff.
Try: vitamins (SERIOUSLY: they help) and maybe benzos (Klonopin is my fave), therapy, and some self-help. Seriously. You can conquer this stuff, just toss the zyprexa: it'll cause more problems than it solves, its really not a long-term solution.

I agree with above. I was on AP's for the whole anxious depression thing, but in the end it only makes things worse.

Mainly, because they make you so groggey and dumb that I got less acomplished the next day, and they made me very unconfident, both of which ended up making anxiety worse long term.

I agree with the previous two posts and I do know the feeling of "I'm not going to feel better in this lifetime". I would have just taken a couple hours a day off from the nightmare as an exceptional blessing. But the right meds and that nasty panic and agoraphobia dissolved....hang in there, man.
