Lunesta to Imovane?

Posted by saturn on March 26, 2007, at 20:39:16

I currently take Lunesta and am overall satisfied with it (2 mg).

However, it is killing my pocketbook. I have found an overseas pharmacy where I can get Imovane (the racemate of Lunesta) considerably cheaper.

Is there any good reason not to switch? Would the other isomer possibly have any side effects or increase tolerance/dependency in any way?

Thanks...Peace...Saturn.

IIRC the other isomer is not active, Imovane is a 50/50 mix of both isomers. So you will need twice as much Imovane to equal
a dose of Lunesta.

This is just MY experience, remember. But I found Imovane (or it's also called Zopiclone here) to be totally useless. It was like taking aspirin or a placebo. It did absolutely NOTHING. And the funny thing is that my daughter was having problems sleeping one night, so I gave them to her. It did zilch for her as well....like mother, like daughter. LOL.

Actually, Imovane is more expensive to purchase here then benzos. They say because benzos are cheaper to make, and they do the same thing as this "new" med.

Can you get some samples to try first? You may find that it's a waste of money. And I upped the dose, too, still without any results. I would suggest just giving it a try one night (even at a higher dose), and if it works...then you have options with this overseas place.

God bless,
Sandy

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for the info. I have no way to obtain a sample as Imovane is not available in the US. But since it actually contains 50% Lunesta I Lunesta works for me I figured I might give it a try. Thanks again...Peace...Saturn.

Oh, I didn't know that Lunesta was the same as Imovane. I just remember the Lunesta ads on the US television stations with that dang butterfly floating around. Lol. Here in Canada it is called Zopiclone. Drugs can get so confusing.....or maybe it's just me!! *smile*

God bless,
Sandy

I think Ambien goes generic in a couple days, so that could be a good option for you.

Thanks football. I may consider switching back now that I know this. Peace...Saturn.
