Look Phillipa I love you. Your always going to be in my heart. I am worried about you and I dont know what to do.
PLZ give this new pdoc a chance and if he is crap try another one it wont hurt but please try his treatments.
You wont try any medications except benzo's and SSRI's in very low doses. You wont try the TCA's, the MAOI's or the Antipsychtoics.You are FAR from being treatment resisstant. What you need to do is do what the doctor tells you to do. Maybe you dont need any medications at all? And Like Ed said, you should stop the benzo's as they are probably more trouble for you than they are worth after being on them so long.
If your Pdoc says you need antipsychotics then why dont you try them? You told me that your scared of TD but that is very rare and most of the time goes away. You would only be on a low so the risk would be even lower.
What about the TCA's? You say you cant take them because heart problems run in your family but honestly dont be silly. Major heart problems run in my family and I do myself have heart problems and my cardiologist and psychatrist work together to monitor my heart. I am on a high dose of Clomiprmaine, a TCA, and I'm fine. I am pretty sure that you would be fine too.
Look, I understand that your scared of treatment but your your own worst enemy and its killing me seeing you suffer so much. PLEASE please PLEASE try treatment other than benzo's. I'm sorry if I upset you but I care about you a lot. If you dont want to listen to me ask Ed what he thinks. I'm sure Im going to get posts to this saying so and so drug can cause such and such problem or get bashed by anti antipsychotics people with the whole TD scare tactic.

Chris I am doing what this pdoc has told me to do. He thinks this anxiety is related to my thyroid. And wants me off all antidepressants for a baseline and to try the other benzos so that is what I'm doing. He said no to antipsychotics dosen't even think I look nervous. I know what you're saying but I have to wait for communication between docs hence why he is sending me to an internist he knows. Chris I care about you too. My sweet alien. Love Jan
