I just took Xanax 1mg and Ativan 1mg (which is my old Ativan prescription, from like last year) I just got off work and i am bliztz, i had it at work today, i dont care if took a Quaalude with Xanax, anything to calm me from this erosional speediness im on, i feel im spinning in my head.
Im feeling, i dont know, some relaxation of the body, (from lorazepam) and some mental calmness, but im starting to feel a paradox anxiety.
I think i need to lay down.

Matt, have you talked to your doctor about taking these together? My guess is that he'll suggest that it's not a good idea. In fact, my guess is that he'll discuss the possibility that you're misusing -- if not abusing -- these drugs.
I worry, when I read your posts, that you're looking into a bottle of pills for something that just isn't there. Pills aren't supposed to fix your life, Matt. They're a tool. Little chemical screwdrives, and just like physical screwdrives, they're not going to build anything for you. You just use them to help you build something.
I'm sorry to read that you're mixing drugs this way. I wish you well.

Benzodiazepines can have paradoxical anxiety, this is not completely uncommon.Ativan and Xanax is sort of a redundant mixture in a sense, you're mixing two powerful agents that tend to have an immediacy effect on quelling anxiety, its just that Ativan has a longer half life of around 12 hours.
Instead of taking (x) with Xanax, why not just convince your doctor for a higher dose of Xanax purely for PRN (pro re ne, as needed) dosing ?
I know, we've all done it too probably, I've mixed Kava with my benzodiazepines, etc... people mix alcohol which potentiates things, but there's a certain uncertainty factor involved.
Restoril has a fairly long half life, up to a day, but this can vary wildly.
As long as you're not taking enormous quantities of any of the above, you're not going to be comatose as benzodiazepines have a high tolerance (please don't use this as an excuse for taking high amounts). Restoril and Xanax or anything else is not an uncommon combination since Restoril generally affects the sedative-hypnotic side of GABA-A more. Restoril is a metabolite of Valium.
-- hope you find yourself in a better place.

Well saw the pdoc today and now he's switching me from 3mg long acting xanax and lunesta 3mg a pseudobenzo to get this 2mg of ativan four times a day as he's firmly convinced that my internal anxiety as he doesn't see me shaking or anything like that or even acting axious is my wierd auto antigen of having both Graves and hasimotos thyroiditis. Told him I'd learned to be a good actress which I am so others don't know how I feel. He also sent me to his friend across the street an internist who is in the same group as the endo I see who still hasn't gotten back to the pdoc who sent him a typed letter the day after I saw him. I had even cornered the endo in a room and confronted him very nicely in my nursely way that my pdoc would apprciate a call from him in answer to his request for one but none yet. The endo is located in a different part of town as it's a huge practice. As the pdoc said fix the thyroid properly with right doses and again you can lower the benzo dose and I'm definitely not depressed. Do too much excercise and getting about. Love Phillipa ps also gave me one half a month of lunesta 3mg for sleep. Have a high tolerance when the thyroid is messed up.
This is the end of the thread.
