I took a small dose of Abilify last night and slept great - finally. I don't feel hypomanic this morning either.
My worry is that the Abilify will start to rev up my hunger in a week or two.
Is there anything else I can take with the Abilify?
Also - do most bipolars use an AD (like Emsam for me) along with the mood stabilizer?
Or just a mod stabilizer?

I'm on abilify for depression along with lamictal and seroquel. I take abilify in the morning cause it gives me insomnia. I eat a bowl of cereal after I take it to get rid of hunger. Then I take my benzo after that, it curbs my cravings. But I'm going to start selling my furniture to afford the gym, because the dieting alone seems to not help like I'd want it to. At least I wont sit on my butt as much, because there will be no where to sit! =)

Hi glad that Abilify is helping you. I wanted to try it but it is not available in Costa Rica where I now reside. I've heard that it is more weight neutral than the other antipsycotics. I have gained a lot of weight on Zyprexa which is pissing me off.
I am Bipolar and currently I'm taking 10 mg of Zyprexa, 100 mg of Lamictal, 20 mg of Lexapro, and 1.5 mg of Rivotril (Clonazepam/Klonopin).
My PDOC said she might try Topamax for me next week which is said to help to lose weight. I want to ditch the Zyprexa as it is also causing muscle rigidity and I'm sure 'blunting' of my old vibrant creative self. I'll be posting how I feel on Topamax as I go along. All the best to you!

The lowest dose - 2mg! I am very sensitive.
