Emsam - can't find balance....

Posted by TrishP on March 13, 2007, at 11:22:33

Been taking lowest dose of Emsam patch for past 2 weeks. At first I felt great, lots of energy, (manic). So I started taking Xanac with it to geet me a little more grounded.

Now, I just kind of feel depressed. It actually feels very similar to when I took diet pills in the past (Phentermine - amphetamines).

I like the high feeling, but I can't walk around manic all the time. I am mean and short with people.

I wish I could get an SSRI in a patach. That would help bypass all of the awful side effects I get from them.

What am I suppose to take?

I take drugs that make me manic or slow, fat and dumb!

I like the idea of all meds in a patch. More should be available. Have you asked your pdoc what to do about the EMSAM? Love Phillipa

I didn't get the energy hit that a lot of people get. Do you have some bipolar?
I'm not sure if my 'crazy' & unstable feeling is worse since taking Emsam. Has anyone noticed that effect?

Yes - I do still get the high, crazy feeling from Emsam. I think I may try cutting my dose in half for a while and ease into it. Maybe that will help. But I am a somewhat bipolar and I think I need a mood stabilizer to help with the too high/too low stuff. My doc said I could add back a small dose of Abilify if I wanted to.

For less energizing effect, consider taking a new Emsam patch at night with Klonopin or Seroquel. By the way, what is your dosage?

I took some Abilify last night (slept great for the first time in a while).

Would it be too much to take both Emsam and Abiify at night?

Is it OK to mix Abilify with Emsam? ANyone? » TrishP

No sounds like a great combo. I dont think there are any medicinal conflicts but I would call the local pharmacy just to make sure.

Or perhaps someone on this board could help answer that for you.

Abilify and Emsam are okay.
