I think I've grown benzo tolerant (after 42 years of taking them). Dr Shipko of the Panic Research Institute says the tolerance refers to the side effects not the anxiolysis, which should remain intact.
If we really do become tolerant to say Xanax, would it help to swich to Klonopin or Ativan for a while and then switch back and keep going round them? Or are they too similar?
The fact is I don't get panic attacks now (quite) so is that down to Xanax? Or have I grown out of them? However I get pretty unrelenting general anxiety (not worry - free floating: I don't know what I'm afraid of). I sometimes think it's more like PTSD, except I don't get flashbacks of memory but of the feeling I had at the time, when I was very young. Sounds like Freud's description of neuroses.
If anyone can help I'd be very grateful
Fred

This guy is totally anti-med. If meds have not been researched for over 3 months how does he know meds are causing these problems? So we are going to develop parkinson's from ssris? Where is his proof.
What makes you think this guy is right on his beliefs as compared to other docs?

Fred are you saying they should still work for the anxiety. My panic has also changed over the years to an internal state of fear. Love Phillipa

Benzos should still work for anxiety according to him, but he said that some time ago and I haven't read him since. I didn't realise he was anti-med. So what does he favour instead?
