Really, im seeing it prescribed off-label so much these days. Social anxiety, sleep, etc.

I'm on Resperdal for psychosis. Was on haloperidol for a long time but changed. Side effect wise, I think its a great drug. Im no longer sleeping all day but its too early to say weather or not it will help my psychosis. I hope it does.

It really shouldn't be prescribed offlabel for those conditions unless absolutely warranted because it is a neuroleptic and people with affective disorders experience much more EPS. Risperdal is Haldol with some molecules transformed. At its highest dose, it really is not a lot different from Haldol in terms of side effects.


It is probably prescribed as a neuroleptic for some conditions because it is the 2nd atypical produced (Clozaril being the first and frought with incredible issues) and is cheapest.
