Zoloft anxiety coming back!??

Posted by Big Popper on February 16, 2007, at 15:58:44

I was on 10mg of Lexapro for 4-5 months with horrible SE's (really bad anxiety). Gave it a fair trail. Then went to Zoloft. Started at 25mg with good results. The morning panic went away quickly after the switch from Lex. Still had was taking some benzo (.5 Klon day) due to some anxiety, but not nearly as bad as Lex. Then increased to 50mg of Zoloft. After a few days I felt better than I have in a long time. NO anxiety at all and wanted to do all the things I use to love just a year ago.

I have been on zoloft for 5 weeks now after being on Lex for 4-5 months. All of a sudden the old feelings of anxiety are starting to creep back in! 3 great weeks of 50mg of Zoloft then slight anxiety and loss of concentration. I do not understand why/how this could happen.

Is this common? Should I just wait it out and see if things get back normal? Should I increase Zoloft more? Do not get me wrong, I am still MUCH better than before Zoloft. But I want the feeling I had the last 3 weeks.

It's great that you are feeling better! As far as the anxiety creeping back in, it could be a coincidence. Maybe you are stressed or anxious about something specific right now?

Five weeks is still a pretty short time to be on Zoloft. Maybe give it a few days, and if you still feel anxious, talk to your pdoc about increasing the dose. It's possible you just haven't reached the right dose yet.

Also, are you taking it at the same time every day? Zoloft has a half life of about 26 hours, so if you take it a little later or earlier than usual, it can mess with your emotions a little. I have this problem sometimes, especially on weekends, when I tend to take it a few hours later than usual.

I'd let your pdoc know. Since I have no idea how depressed you were. No signs of mania? Love Phillipa

The anxiety is still hanging around. Not as bad as when I started Lexapro, but still bad. There are times during the day that I will feel good for a short while, then I start feeling very odd. I assume it is anxiety, not sure. Maybe this is just how you feel on AD's. I am still new to this.

I increased my Zoloft from 50mg ot 75mg yesterday. I will see what this does. Is it common to feel good after increasing does, then after 1-2 weeks you start feeling bad again?? I can not undestand how I can need Benzo so bad for days, then do not need it at all????
