I'm switching from 100 mg of Zoloft to 40 mg of Lexapro daily. I'm also on 150 mg of lamictal. My doc switched me over today didn't say anything about transitioning or anything. I am just going to switch right over, does this sound right?

That's the way my pdocs always do it. Love Phillipa

You sure it's 40 mg Lexapro? That's a stiff starting dose. You can try it and if you have withdrawal from the Zoloft, which shouldn't be too uncomfortable in any case, you could taper... Phillipa is correct, though, the pdocs like to just switch meds without washout. That doesn't work out sometimes.

Bassman I think l0mg was the starting dose of lexapro and some now start at 5mg to avoid initial side effects. The docs are starting maybe to listen to their patients and realize that there is a price to the patient to start too high. Better to start too low and up the dose. Love Phillipa

I recently started Lexapro at 10mg. I too was shocked to read that they started you out at 40mg.
