Do they bring out the big guns for anxiety only? Or do you have to have a combo of depression and anxiety? Please let me know, Michael

They do. Ive heard of nardil being perscribed for anxiety disorders that dont respond to other treatment. I dont know about Parnate though, I was on parnate for depression but I also have an anxiety disorder (ocd) and it didnt do much for that.
Take care

THIS IS A POST TO YOU FROM ABOVE THAT YOU NEVER GOT AROUND TO SEEING. HERE'S YOU > You need to take antipsychotics!!!!!!! I swear if you continued taking Seroquel in a higher dose you would have less anxiety and be able to sleep like a baby. But you dont listen to me (or your pdoc) :( :( :( :(
>

HERE'S ME: Alienatari: That is very, very interesting you said that because the first time in 10 years I got any real relief from the anxiety is when I stumbled onto Seroquel last year. I usually took 100-200mg of Seroquel (but also ranging from 25-400mg depending on how I felt) and 3mg of Klonopin and had a great four-month period. Then I got upset over a dry cough that would never go away, and that sent my anxiety through the stratosphere. It was at that point the pdoc decided to try me with Emsam, thinking it might be able to sustain me better. And I am glad I am giving it a try. However, what I have learned now is that my anxiety level was so high at that point that really no med was going to calm me down. Perhaps I gave up on the Seroquel+Klonopin combo too soon.

Let me ask you this, if you dont mind: What gives you any evidence that Seroquel helps anxiety? Can you share your experience or insight? Thanks, Michael

MAOis for anxiety

MAOis have so many disadvantages (eating restrictions, drug interactions, etc) that they seem to be reserved mostly for difficult depression. But I understand that phenelzine/nardil is considered highly, highly effective for anxiety (depression too, of course), and maybe isocarboxazid/Marplan, too. They are powerful and effective meds for anxiety--Nardil made me very, very laid back, for example. It's apparently considered, by some, the most effective medication for anxious depression.

Do you take Nardil for anxious depression? Did you ever have GAD? How long did it take for the Nardil to kick in? Thanks, Michael

Lots of times they feed each other....depression/anxiety,so some people prefer parnate over nardil and vs versa.

Nardil will likly be less activating, more sedating however personaly and just me im convinced on the old/new nardil thing,or else id have long since tried it as nardil overall seems a better choice, but im just too convinced this reformulation is too much of a real factor.

But just think, two options beats one eh!

I don't have GAD, though I do have anxiety. I took it for anxious, atypical, anergic treatment-resistant major depression. Didn't stay on it long enough to get a real antidepressant benefit, but I felt the anxiolytic, (and for me, motivation-reducing) properties within a week.
