just a short funny story to share. i've been off remeron for (golly! just realized how long it's been) nearly a year. have struggled now and again with the old depression. filled an rx for remeron from my pdoc "just in case."
i swear, since i picked up the pills about a month ago, the remeron has started working again. i fall asleep easily at night, my appetite has increased, i've put on a couple pounds.
the only thing is, i haven't taken it!! :)
long live the placebo effect,

:) That's an amusing story -- well except the pounds effect. The placebo effect causing Remeron placebo side effects ?? :) The pounds are probably just from feeling better -- some people eat more when they feel worse, some better.
They do say in psychiatry that the placebo effect can be 33% of the time for medications. (That's why double blind studies are done and case reports are fascinating but inconclusive since they didn't involve double blind studies.)

Yeah, if I carry my seroquel and lorazepam with me in my purse, they magically seep through the purse into me somehow, causing me to not get anxious. Tee hee!

then it certainly seems like side effects would be part of the placebo if your mind/body knows what to expect from a med, huh?
interesting... :)
