Not just with tianeptine, but more noticeable with it than with the bit of Valium I take each day.
(Then again with me it's lots of things....I might end up like one of those bubbleboys.)After a dose I can feel my chest tightening and my sinuses filling with mucous. This response seems to have become more intense over time.
I can take relatively non-toxic (to me) things to handle it (Intal, Becanase, herbs), but it seems as if my body is telling me to stop it.
Of course my mind/mood does not agree. My IgE (Immunoglobulin E, a marker of reactivity) should be under 50 and is over 400.

Have you tried taking an antihistamine to see if that reduces the mucous and chest tightness? If it is an allergic reaction then it seems likely you'll need to stop it, especially when your IgE marker is so high. It can't be too healthy. What does your doctor think about it?
I couldn't find anything about tianeptine causing those side effects - there are some studies showing that it is actually beneficial in asthma so you would think it would be helping your breathing if anything.
I found some interesting info on the effect of inflammation and abnormal immune response on depression. Might be worth bearing in mind if tianeptine is causing an abnormal immune response. Cutting nose off to spite face and all that.

It seems the drug infliximab may be effective for treating depression in people who have this problem.

Wouldn't a sed rate and white blood cell count tell if there was inflammation and maybe an ANA? Love Phillipa

Hey, thanks for that.
From the little I know there are so many different proinflammatory markers. There are those alternative things to bring those down, some of which I take.
That's my worry I guess.....that the mucuos and chest thing is just the visible bit.
This is the end of the thread.
