No SSRI - any suggestions?

Posted by TrishP on January 4, 2007, at 10:34:47

Ok - I can't take any of the SSRIs - they all give me bladder problems.

I tried Abilify - loved it, but didn't like the weight gain.

Wellbutrin doesn't really seem to help me.

I thought about using the Wellbutrin with Abilify to combat the appetite. Don't know if that would work.

Any suggestions on other meds that help with BP II and depression & anxiety?

Have you tried Serzone? ( Nefazodone). Not many people use it anymore, but it is somewhat helpful for depression, good for anxiety, and helps you sleep.

PS- very rarely it can cause some liver problems though, so you have to be careful of that..

If you've done all the rest, Nardil is the Bomb. Watch out for mania or hypomania with BPII. It can be very intoxicating if you have been depressed for a long time. Most people don't recognise the mania in themselves. Have someone close keep an eye on you. Nardil is noted for weight gain, but is only used in severe treatment resistant cases. The depression is far worse than the side effects.
Take care,

You might want to try emsam as it is an maoi but has no dietary restrictions at the 6 mg patch. I've heard that klonopin goes well with emsam for the anxiety component and also has some bp uses but i'm not sure at what dose.
