What causes anger, agression?

Posted by Jimmyboy on January 2, 2007, at 12:24:23

I hear alot of people complaining that drugs cause irritabillity, agression, anger, etc..

What type of drugs are these? Cause, I need some of that.. although I am a large person, I am probably the least agressive , docile person I know and I hate it, I would love to have some of that anger and agressiveness.. not too much, but some. Its as if I am incapable of getting angry , even when its warranted.

Thanks

JB

Oh Jimmyboy, why do you want to feel angry and irritable? It's so refreshing to meet somebody who has no 'badness' in them; all calm and placid. It's a very endearing quality to have.

Lamictal made me very angry and irritable when I took it without a benzo. Benzos themselves made me more aggressive and violent. Many things seem to bring my inner Viking out and I don't like it.

Amphetamines might make you more aggressive and irritable - especially if you allow yourself to become sleep deprived.

Well, I don't want to be angry really, I guess I meant that I felt it would be better to have some emotions than go through life emotionless like a robot who never has anything to say to anyone.. and no motivation .. its led to isolation and loneliness..

Amphetamines and the like definitely bring more clarity and alertness, but bring a long anxiety too unfortunately and I think I would rather be emotionless than have fear and anxiety. I think its hopeless for me unfortunately.. I have tried everything, what a bummer..

You need to ask yourself if you have a problem with getting angry, or a problem with expressing anger.

If you have a problem with expressing anger, then medications may just make you internally angry without expressing it.

Thats what remeron did to me. I felt so angry inside and hated everybody and wanted to punch people in the face, but I probably didn't act any differently, cause I still just kept it bottled inside.

You don't need anger and aggression! I am positive that once depression is under control, you will have that oomph, but in a far more appealing way. Cheesy as may be, hopefully the new year can inspire all of us for a move forward. Is there anything that is interesting that you can get involved with? A class perhaps? The gym? I personally find that an engrossing involvement can do wonders, and am setting myself up that way for this winter. I've done it before- it can seem rote at first, but then can take over. Wishing you the best, Laima.

I'd say it sounds like you wish you didn't let people push you around and could be more assertive so maybe not meds but theraphy? Just a thought. Love Phillipa

Probably any of the stimulants. Wellbutrin sr can do that. I don't know if its realy anger and agression, or if you are all hyped up, it just apears that way.
