For whatever reason, everything i read suggests that dopamine agonists are only effective for a few months..........so i was wondering rotating requip and mirapex say every 2 months..........could this work and has it for anybody on here???
Also, has anyone had a prolonged response to dopamine agonists?!
thanks!!

Hey Mark,
I have had a prolonged positive reponse from 10 mg of abilify, from negative sympotoms such as flat affect, avolition, anhedonia etc. Has helped maybe 60-70% though, so recently added Requip, which is good at .25 mg, but loses effectivenes if the dose is raised. By good I mean it further reduces the negative symptoms and brings me to like maybe 90% of what i would subjectively think as 'normal'. have spent some time actually happy on the low dose requip/abilify combo. (Also take provigil for sleep disorder).
If requip loses effectiveness, may try that rotation thing with the mirapex. May be a good idea...
Good luck,
Suzie

I’ve been trying a rotation where I change every day. I’ve done it 6 or so months now. I’ve posted about it before but not gotten a lot of interest or response. (posts titled alternating augment strategy). I take Adderall on day 1, Neurontin on day 2, Provigil on day three, then Adderall again. All the while taking my daily dose of SSRI. My experience with taking any of those 3 above continuously is that the effect diminishes, but that when I go back to them after not taking them in a while the effect is a lot stronger, so that’s why I came up with the rotation strategy. I haven’t tried the dopamine agonists you are talking about, but if they kick in slower and last longer than daily switching allows maybe you could try 2 weeks of each before transitioning to the next or something.

> markI was on Requip 1.5 mg a day for 6 months. I do think it didn't give me as much effect after that time, or even less. Because I had palpitations on it, I switched to Mirapex recently (0.25 mg three times a day) and did note a renewed response. I would imagine rotating these on some schedule would make sense if they poop out.
