Does anyone know why lexapro treatments depression and generalized anxiety disorder only? That is what their medical pamphlets indicate and also their website. It is an SSRI just like zoloft and paxil, but they also treat panic. How can ssri's be so different?

I don't know, but Lexapro may not have been tested in clinical trials for panic, so it then was not approved to treat that. Also, all the SSRIs are different drugs (different chemicals), although they serve similar functions, they could have slightly different effects on the body's chemistry.
