Can anyone share any experiences with this and is there any vision for it being available in the U.S. in the near future?
Also, wikipedia states it is structurally similiar to the tricyclics. Is this correct and if so does it also share the potential cardiotoxicity of the tricyclics?

I don't know if tianeptine is coming any time soon. I doubt it. Other babblers are excellent at picking up news on that kind of stuff.
From what I have read, it is in a class of tricyclics, though it acts nothing like them. But it also has a structure very similar to the dopamine reuptake inhibitor called amineptine. But its proposed mechanism is supposedly not like amineptine. No one really knows how tianeptine works. It is commonly called a serotonin reuptake enhancer, so it basically speeds up the flow and firing of serotonin...more is sucked out, but to compensate more is pumped in...and it also somehow boosts dopamine function. And it is my guess it does other stuff that isn't known.
Sent to your mailbox from overseas it would cost about $100 a month. It is not FDA approved. It is not a controlled substance. When I've ordered things like it from overseas Customs puts a green label on the package with the word "supplements", in the rare situation when they take a close look.

I'm taking it currently and will continue for a month and see if it seems worth sticking with (I'm not having remarkable results in the first week). Its an interesting class of drugs but I think its safe to say it won't be making it to the American market this late in the game. I hope there is more interest though. SSRI's/Tricyclic's *shudder*
It does give me a transient headache, which I guess could count as something.

I'm not planning to start it right away, but rather to have it on hand if other things don't work out. I wish I knew where to get it for $33 a month. That's about what it cost me for 10 days worth, if taken at 3 per day.

I should really read the rules again. I'm pretty sure discussing sources is a no-no?
Anyway, since its not a prescription drug (at least in the US) maybe a pointer would be acceptable?
I researched the supplier through the forums @ [xxx] which certainly is informative, for better or worse.

Thanks. My was along the lines of supplements like Phenibut, which is simply another non-FDA approved medication (being sold OTC).
But obviously I suspected it was still a grey area.
This is the end of the thread.
