Yikes! I am going to the eye doctor today! Since starting Abilify (2mg/night) I have had some blurry vision -but nothing too bad. And now I have a cateract! I am way too young for this.
Is this related to the Abilify? I am scared!
I am trying to keep my BPII under control. Maybe it would be better to switch to Lamictil.
Does anyone know of the side effects of Lamictil?
I'm scared! I don't want anything to happen to my vision.

Are you blue eyed and spend or spent a lot of time in the sun? Especially without sunglasses? And age is a question. I've met people in their 30's with cataracts. I'm older and have had a small one of over l0 years. Love Phillipa

FWIW:
According to the PDR, Abilify, at VERY HIGH doses (15 times the equivalent recommended human dose), caused Retinal Degeneration in Albino Mice.

abilify is generally pretty easy on the blood sugar but..it can cause increases/spikes in some people. If its screwing with your blood sugar, that can affect vision...that's really all I can think of.

Anyway, it happened to me once and it went away once I stopped taking that drug.

Went to the eye doc yesterday and he said that the fuzzy vision could be caused by the Abilify. Usually at higher doses though.
Also, the thing on my eye is not a cateract, it is caused from sun damage, but becomes visible when the eye is dry.
Actually, since my hysterectomy 3 months ago, my vision has been dryer, causing the fuzzy vision sometimes.
I am going to keep a check on it and if it doesn't go away by the next time I see my shrink, I may try to switch to lamictil and see how that does.

You're so right. I used them yesterday and I couldn't believe how much they help me staring at a computer screen all day and trying to read at night!
No one told me that literally everything was going to dry out from after my hysterectomy!
This is the end of the thread.
