Hey everyone, I have been at a special clinic for the last week and have had extensive tests run on me , because I have suffered from exhaustion, depression, brain fog, for so long.. I have tried about every antidepressant and was determined to find out if its mental , physical or both..
Anyway, i got a SPECT scan the other day, and it showed that my brain chemistry was extremely screwed up ( did I need an expensive test to find that out?? : ) And it said that many of my white blood cell counts were low and that my hormones were low ( thyroid and testosterone) , plus one test said that my venous blood gasses were high ( basically they said that normally one's tissues would absorb 70& of the Oxygen in the arteries while mine was only absorbing less than 30% of the oxygen . This seems like it would exp, lain me being so tired all the time, but I don;t know..
Anyway, I have met with a doctor who specializes in chronic fatigue and he really seems to think it may be some kind of latent virus ( Epstein -Barr or HHV-6 or something ) that keeps reoccuring and is what is causing all the trouble. he suggested a course of antiviral medication among other things..
Anyone heard of anything like this helping?
Another doctor is convinced its some sort of allergies.. . hmm... funny hoiw , depending on the doctor you see , the differant answers you get .
Exact same symptoms for years and psychiatrists always say depression .. thes guys keep saying that is a bull**it cop out that doctors label people with when the doctors don;t know the underlying physical cuase of the messed up brain chemistry that causes depression... Anyway, thought it was interesting to get a new perspective..

Yes Epstein Barr can cause chronic fatigue sydrome. I think they use some antidepressants to help, lots of rest, good food, maybe vitamins. Did the doc suggest what you should do? Love Phillipa
