Is it OK for me to take Celexa and Prozac together? My pdoc just gave me a script for Prozac because she says it works to regulate eating in people with bulimia. Is it OK to take two SSRI's at the same time? Isn't it overkill or something?

It is highly unusual to take two ssris at the same time, and most docs would say no, but yes you can do it. You have to be careful with dosing though and keep them low at first to avoid serotonin syndrome (overload). In the side effect department, you may have a hard time knowing which is doing what. You may get some weird ones. Who knows, it may turn out to be a really cool combo for you. Just approach with caution in the early stages and feel it out from there. Celexa and prozac are different and unique from each other.

I'll be taking 50 mg Celexa and 20 mg Prozac. Is that a lot? It sounds like a lot.

Deneb is that what you pdoc prescribed? I've taken two SSRI's at once at low doses. Love Phillipa have you taken one of them yet alone so you'll know what med is giving side effects if you get any?

Yes I've taken the Celexa for a while now.
I asked the pharmacist today and she's going to call my pdoc to find out more information.
