Does the sweating ever stop? I know for sure that it's not going to work if I am going to sweat like that every night. I got less sleep which was for sure not the desired result...

I have the same question. I get hot and sweaty during the day and it is really hard to deal with.
Anyone know the answer?
How long have you been taking abilify? What dose?

Last night was my first dose and I'm taking 5mg. It was supposed to help me sleep but tossing and turning and sweating doesn't make that any better. Thank god today is Friday so at least I don't have to go to work tomorrow.

cant remember wheter I sweated or not in the first days. I take it for about 2 month and it seems that I sweat less than before I took abilify (now at 30mg). But maybe thats because I took other drugs before I switched to abilify.
Maybe you should take it in the morning? if you toss and turn and cant sleep... ?
just my 2 cent.

I might have to try that. I probably would have been ok except for the sweating. It was like having the flu without the aches and pains. Hopefully it will get better. No other s/e's that I can tell right now at least.

I just spoke to the nurse practioner at my doc's office and she said the sweating and hyperness would wear off -usually after 2 weeks. She said it is due more to a rise in blood pressure.
I told her I have some Klonopin, but she said they usually perscribe blood pressure meds like Cogentin? Or, she said to start out taking some benedryl to calm down.
I took some Klonopin instead.
Plus, I'm sticking with the 2mg. Ther is no way I could go up to 5mg without being locked in a padded room!

I saw this morning that it was on the *call your doctor* list of side effects. I have a blood pressure cuff at home so I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for that info

Cogentin affects your BP? I didn't know that. I thought it was to prevent TD or dystonia or the other antipsychotic effects? Love Phillipa Sure it was clonidine?

Yes - you are correct. The nurse said the hot, sweaty feeling could be elevated blood pressure from the abilify. She said they usually perscribe a Parkinson's like drug like Cogentin to calm.

Hi PJ
Benzatropine (Cogentin) is an anti-parkinsonian drug, it is not a treatment for hypertension.

Ed I know that was my question and I spelled clonodine wrong which is what I meant for BP. But had no idea cogentin affected BP too. Love PJ
