Talked to the pdoc this morning, since i'm not responding to 100mg at all, we decided to raise to 200mg/day starting tonight.
BTW, the thread deniseuk190466 started with the topic "Depression should be given another name". I wrote an 1 1/2 A4 pages article about that and it will be published in the local newspaper today. :-)

Aren't you a bit worried that such a sudden doubling of your dose will provoke a rash? I thought the idea with Lamictal was to increase it slowly and gradually. Perhaps your doctor has had a different type of experience with Lamictal. Dr Ivan Goldberg has the following to say on this subject:
"9. How is treatment with lamotrigine initiated?
In people not taking carbamazepine or valproate, lamotrigine is usually initially prescribed at an initial dose of 12.5 or 25 mg a day and the dose increased by 12.5 or 25 mg every week or two."

Congratulations on your imminent excursion into print. I hope they paid you well, as well as you rightly deserve...
ciao
....Alan

Hi Alan,
>Aren't you a bit worried that such a sudden doubling of your dose will provoke a rash?
It's been doubling all the way; 25->50->100->200
Look at the titration regime on the manufaturer's web page: http://www.lamictal.com/bipolar/dosing/dosing.htm
and at rxlist: http://rxlist.com/cgi/generic/lamotrigine_ids.htmMy pdoc told me to go with 200mg, but sure, I'm worried about the rash all the time.

Thanks :-)

Thanks for putting me straight, Mattias. I'm glad you will achieve your target dose relatively quickly. I might go on Lamictal myself and I was dreading the slow titration. But 8 weeks is not too bad. I hope you get some great results with it. Let us know....Alan

I felt a bit shaky this morning, like too much coffee, but it has subsided now. But otherwise nothing bad. It's too early of course to say anything yet, but i will keep you updated.
Thanks for caring.
