I took paxil for 2 years and it was a great medicine for me, ive used various meds since, some good some bad but non as good as paroxetine. Last week my mental health took bit of a dive (was on no meds) and the doctor has put me back on paroxetine, i asked for it. Seemed the best drug I ever had. However I have heard that paroxetine second time around is no good or less effective......any thoughts anyone

It didn't work the second time for me but a lot of time has gone by so maybe it will work again. I hope so. Love Phillipa

Me, too. The first time Paxil was a dream come true-the second time, nothing.

Don't pre judge your own outcome. I took it a second time and it worked great, unfortuantly the sexual sides were to tough, couldn't get an erection!
Are you taking it in the morning or bedtime? What dose?

I've been off meds for about 6 months now and have a good baseline of who I am. Now if I try a med, I will be able to tell if it's helping or not versus jumping from med to med for the past 4 years. I've also thought about trying 10mg of Paxil if the Lamictal fails me.

As I mentioned in the post above, I stopped so I could get a baseline and start from scratch. I suffer from anxiety(OCD), constant low grade depression mixed with a little ADD. Yes I can function, but it's a struggle to get through the day. I stopped drinking about 3 1/2 years ago, have gone from med to med since and didn't know what was real or med induced side effects. So, now that I've taken a break, I will be able to truly tell if the med is an improvement or not.

Thanks, after talking with my doc, I'm going to retry a low dose of Lamictal (50mg) before Paxil.

Theo that might be really good as it has antidepressant activity too. And none of the SSRI side effects. Good for you and good luck. Love Phillipa
