Hi,
I've been taking T4 for bipolar disorder... its very activating and makes it hard for me to sleep... i really think it has antidepressant qualities, but as usual, anything with such properties sends me too high.... it makes me sweat and gives me insomnia... but in terms of other side effects, its quite clean...

What was your TSH before you started?
I sure hope the T4 doesn't send you where you don't belong.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Are you taking T4 (a thyroid hormone i guess)
without any other drugs? Did your dr. say
if you were hypothyroidic before being put
on it?I find it odd - but maybe this is a new
treatment.Squiggles

Hi,
No, apparently im not hypothyroid... this was an augmenting agent to my lithium and tegretol... but unfortunately, it was very activating and uncomfortable... but that tends to be how i react to antidepressant medications... so i do think t4 has antidepressatn qualities...

tegretol, right?so i do think t4 has antidepressatn qualities...
I don't quite get that last part, unless "activating and uncomfortable" are antidepressant
qualities, not likely, right;Squiggles

Hey S,
I;ve always found that medications with socalled antidepressant qualities tend to activate me and send me into hypomania... and i believe t4 did this... hence, i believe it could be an antidepressant by deduction.. just my opinion, im sure its differnet in different people...
