(..novel to me anyway).

I don't really understand the specific implications of these findings at all, so help me out. But some of it seems to suggest that certain dopamine receptors may actually be involved in *increased* depression when activated, which is not only fascinating but actually and interestingly make a lot of sense to me, given my experience with Parnate and several dopamine agonists (& amantadine).

Lack of dopamine is responsible for ADD, they have that backwards and i think schizophrenia involves not having dopamine in parts of the prefrontal cortex which causes neurons to misfire.

Interesting...the article backs up my experience. This summer I was on Adderall, which was wonderful at first. But then it sent me into a deep spiral of a depression which ended me as an inpatient patient at the hospital.

Could be. I tried Amadentine for a month and felt myself sliding, but it was absolutely WONDERFUL for negating sexual side effects due to benzodiazepine use. If it were not for the depression we would clear the pharmacy shelves of this stuff.

I agree. Dopamine only works in concert with other neurotransmitters to color mood. Thrusting the chemical too far will leave you hypermotivated but never satisfied. Most antidepressants work by *decreasing* overactive dopaminergic activity in certain limbic regions.

Just my thoughts, but I believe boosting dopamine is good for some people while reducing is good for others. I think it all has to do with how their particular brain chemistry and genes are arranged.

I read about it a long time ago, but I forget where. It was a couple of years ago. It has some thing to do with GABA and the dopamine system. That's why I quit chronic Librium use. Some benzos are much worse than others. I even saw an ad on one of these porn sites claiming "finish like a porn star" I thought Nardil was for that!

Sorry for the delayed response (pc probs).
After the hospital, I was still pretty bad, with a lot of anxiety/agitation. Then I tried Cymbalta, which seemed to help. Then I took the extreme step of ECT, which also helped. I am still playing around with my meds, but I am not as bad.
How are you doing?> Chiron,
