Check out this page filled with research material on Deprenyl (selegiline, what Emsam is a patch version of.) It's a huge list showing how this drug can extend life plus more. Alot of heavy reading but very informative!

In all fairness they are part of a network called SMART DRUGS,and provide this specfic information and in the end lead you to the site to buy it.The actual group is where you find users who are both pro and con and they debate strongly over the drug, again not down playing it,just want to advise that this in my view is one sided information given here, all of the drugs and nutrients that they link to a page as such are very pro,and i personaly have liked and DISLIKED some,so again beware on reader.

Well what you have to consider is that the links posted are to valid research articles which is why I put up the link to the page. I agree that the site itself is suspect when it directs you to a place to buy the drug but the links and the information they present are valid.

Terri I'm very interested with anything to do with EMSAM seeing the pdoc Tuesday. What should I tell her the results of others are. She has said 1/4 patch is all I would need. Love Phillipa

LOL, I would tell her that she might as well just give some aspirin for all the good a 1/4 of a patch will do (imho of course.) I found that even the 12mg patch wasn't enough but who knows what you will respond to.
But a 1/4 of a patch? I HIGHLY doubt it....

I agree honestly from what ive seen here you have seemingly and again this is just my own view showed a great deal of anxiety in approaching this drug.
I know there is always that anxiety when trying a new drug, more for some, however that has to be a degree,if you are extremly anxious possabilities arise that you will freak out so to speak on the first sign of side effects,as well as anxiety over a new drug sometimes is stronger than the drug itself and you may not benifit.
You taking a very weak maoi,at a very low dose, you have collected tons of information from here alone,i think its time to decide if you want and feel this drug might help,if so full throttle.
I speak for myself, for instance even if lyrcia doesent work its something i felt had a chance and therefore i had little anxiety in taking it.
Depakote, geodon, and certain drugs were more so pushed on in a way and since i wasnt the one who felt comfortable in the indea they were going to help never took geodon and still use depakote very lightly.

I agree, some of what has been said about selegiline has been hype.
For instance, some newer studies have refuted its activity as a neuroprotectant. A few parkinsons studies have also found "excess mortality" in the segeliline treated patients.
Research in mice are one thing, but only the test of time will tell.
