Moclobemide and Olanzapine for Borderline Persona

Posted by Borderliner86 on September 9, 2006, at 4:50:26

I have been on 300mg Moclobemide and 7.5mg Olanzapine for about 3 weeks to help me control my borderline personality. I must admit the Cognitive Analytical Therapy plays the main role in my treatment.

I am just after some personal experiences of Moclobemide and its effects. All posts welcome.

I have found moclobemide to be fast acting. Its effects so far on me have been increased concentration, decreased fatigue and a clearer frame of mind. My depressive symptoms have gone.

The olanzapine has also been great, releives alot of anxiety and helps me feel like i can cope in social situations.

I have so far found this to be a good combination in treating borderline personality. It is still early days however.

I have seen olanzapine work magic for a person with BPD. I don't know what dosage she is taking, but I am pretty sure it is at least 10mg.

The effect of the Olanzapine has certainly calmed me down and reduced alot of mental static that was making it hard for me to think. My paranoia has also decreased. I switched from quetiapine due to the over sedating effect of it. Its good for sleep, nothing else in my eyes.

I beleive the energising effect of the moclobemide aleviates the sedating effect of the olanzapine without disrupting its anti anxiety activity. The current doses of both are still quite low and i see room for an increase that ill discuss with my dr next week.

My advice to everyone is not to submiss to your Dr. They are experts in the field, yes, however they arent experts in your own personal symptoms and recovery. Be honest yet strong with your Dr about what u want from your medication and the severity of each of your symptoms.

Just for general background on my trials none of the following medication worked for me:
setraline, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, mirtazapine, citalopram, escitalopram, reboxetine.

I had some releif from venlafaxine, however the side effects of nausia and drowsiness were hard to bear. It also lacked the ability to numb out some of the 'static' that borderliners experience.

moclobemide was the first AD I ever took so I didn't know what to expect. It didn't help me too much with panic so xanax was added to the mix, once I started that I improved very quickly. I then dropped the moclobemide and became a xanax cookie monster. That was about 11 years ago now so I don't know if it really helped me. I tried zyprexa a couple of years ago and it just made me really obnoxious and I gained alot of weight with it

Thanx for your input. I have also been a xanax cookie monster and a valium vacuum. Terrible drugs, i dont know why they are even used in psychiatry. weight gain is becoming a major issue for me as well. i have gained just under a kilo each week since i started zyprexa... and that was almost 4 weeks ago. im guessing it wont slow down until i do some exercise.

I gained 18 kilo's in 3 months on zyprexa but I have to say that I don't abuse valium, it was just the xanax.
