Phillipa....

Posted by blueberry on September 8, 2006, at 15:56:41

Hi Phillipa and everyone. You asked how I was doing in another post and I thought I would answer it here. You can kind of tell when someone is doing poorly when they don't post very often. That is sadly the case with me.

My 10mg prozac 2.5mg zyprexa are not doing much, maybe even making me worse than I was. Tried higher doses which made me much much worse. The doc almost called an ambulance to take me from his office to the hospital. It is a good hospital and would not be a bad thing. At the moment I'm hesitating. My first trip there was good and I am actually as bad right now as I was before the first visit.

Tried ritalin. First dose was nice. As it wore off depression was worse. Second dose didn't do nearly as much as the first, and then depression was real bad 3 hours later, and then the third dose did nothing at all and I had viscious depression as it wore off. Ritalin was a scary ride for me. Forget that.

I discovered I like ativan/lorazepam though. I liked xanax, but the peaks and valleys were aweful. Ativan is much smoother and seems more calming physically and mentally. Klonopin was a suicide inducing med for me. For the time being I survive on low dose ativan until I see the doc on Monday or I hit the hospital, which ever comes first.

Doc has his eye on three possibilities for me...wellbutrin; lithium; ECT. He favors ECT. I favor wellbutrin and/or lithium. We'll see how it all plays out real soon.

Hope you are feeling fairly well. Wishing you a good day and evening.

What was your response to Lamictal?

How did you respond previously to Wellbutrin?

If neither of the two drugs made you feel worse, it might be worth combining the two.

Oh Blueberry I feel so bad for you. Scott did you mean lithium with the wellbutrin? Or did you think lamictal would be a better choice?

Blueberry are you with someone who will help you, talk with you, make sure you're safe. I wish I could be with you. Love Jan/Phillipa

Hi Blueberry,
you're my favorite berry, did you know that? I love your babblename.

I'm really impressed that with all you're going through that you're still able to make it to your appointments and take your medicines. You really do *WANT* to get better, and I think that that's going to help you more than any combination of medicines.

Having said that, is it possible to try a different class of stimulant, since the ritalin thing was so scary? provigil? It's been helping me a lot. I take cymbalta 90mg + seroquel 25mg at night, provigil 200mg in the am, with my double espresso on ice.

I know that when you're feeling this crappy, it's hard to eat well. How is your nutrition? It's hard to make neurotransmitters if you're not getting the right amino acids and essential fatty acids. Also, many of the enzymes needed to do important chemistry in your brain need vitamins and minerals.

I also take 1200 g fish oil, a b-vitamin supplement, a multi-vitamin and a calcium supplement.

I'm sorry if this is a long reply, and if you've mentioned this stuff already elsewhere. I don't come over here nearly enough. I remember you being so nice though, and I want you to feel well.
