I've been taking parnate now for 4 months with a little success, and recently they cameout with a generic version which I was just switched too. It seems like the generic version makes me jittery (grinding teeth), maybe it's all in my head? Has anyone else made the switch to the generic version and what were the results?-joe

They said something about this to me,is this generic version in the U.S ?

>My pharmsicist mentioned that i was to get that,but we both dident know a lick about it.
Is it any better do you think,aside from the side effect your unfortunatly having?
Does the actual drug seem to differ in any way?

I haven't noticed any difference at all since I switched to the generic last month. I was surprised when I went to get my refill and learned that there was one. All these years later. Who would have thought it?

Yeah you think since its known on data sheets a standard dosage now can can be 60 mg theyd make a 20 mg tab at the least so we dont go home with a giant bottle of litle pilles and feel like some junkie,just imagine for someone like myself who uses a 40 to 50 mg dose,to have a 50 mg tab,wow 5 pills to one,instead they thought it important enough to make a generic,ah exciting.

I did notice that the generic dose seemed to hit me all at once and kind of knock me back and sometimes I would feel a bit jittery. But who knows if it that was the medication or a kind of placebo effect of me thinking that it was different. Either way i have requested that my doc give me brand name parnate and she agreed. She didn't even realize that they had came out with the generic version.

I believe if im not mistaken over doing maoi inhbititation actualy decreases dopamine and other nueros,i could be wrong i just specificaly remember reading you dont wont to over do it because it then becomes counter productive,im not speaking on ur case i dont know ur situation,however i do take 80 mg and i want to stay there,however id like to have it so im not dependant on this dose and even use vaction days where i take less,not want more.
The nuerontin/depakot combo is helping,im not sure if im maniac but i assume i can address that even with adjusting the dose,either way im noticing im not looking for that next parnate dose,but i dont want any generic parnate either,i hope this does not become an issue for me because i will fight it.

My advice is to switch back to brand name parnate. Thats what I did. I asked my doc to do it and he was like.... ok. He couldn't see the difference, but I could feel it.

Willyee-
Speaking as a Parnate veteran, yes you can overdo the doseage level. I had trouble finding the dosage that provided maximum AD effect. A couple times I went too high, which didn't help the depression but produced an unpleasant revved up sensation. That feeling represented an over-production of dopamine and other neuros, depleting the system and giving me rebound depression when I lowered the dose.
