Lithium

Posted by HEART~ on August 17, 2006, at 13:39:49

I recently was taken off of an AP for BP due to it just not working. The doctor wants to try me on Lithium at a low dose. Can people out there tell me the lowest dose that works for them? I read on a post here of one person stabilized at 300mgs..I think that is very rare and a low low dose or is it? What side effects were at this dose? And how far along into taking the Lithium or at what dose did everyone begin the weight gain?

Hope everyone is doing well.

Doses like 300 mg are usually given as an augmentation strategy for antidepressants. For classic Bipolar disorder what I've read is you'll need to get up to a blood level of at least 0.6 ng/dL which probably means 900 mg or more. That's where I am, 0.6 and 900.
