All bad things a little connected

Posted by sdb on August 15, 2006, at 18:12:11

Is OCD connected with anxiety or depression? Or both of them? I think OCD has a lot to do with anxiety. But at the other hand I have the impression that all
things are somehow connected. Anxiety leads to depression, depression leads to anxiety, anxiety to
to OCD. Or somatic problems lead to depression and, and....Schizophrenia, Bipolar (maybe)different.

When I had a little crisis maybe of lack/failure of love I had something like a depression. I took trazodone and it even worked at 25mg but when I upped the dosage I developped strange thoughts that I could go out and kill somebody or do harm myself. Then I stopped the whole thing and it went on again. That was two years ago. The same thing happend to me
with lexapro thus at the end I think that these drugs harmed me much more instead of helping me. I had a
bipolar psychiatrist who immediately gave me a ssri during the ssri hype time.
This time, a longer time ago I knew absolutely nothing about these drugs and my naive belief was that a pill could just solve some little problems like miracle.

The point of the i is that I've found out that a peripheral somatic nerve problem was probably and still is my major problem. Of course I am in treatment against that problem and this four years know. Four years of strenous examinations during my holidays...Neurology
is a hopeless case. I see a horizont know. But it is not entirely clear. These things are pure stress. I've always had to do a double effort for many things because of that problem. Somatic problems can lead to psy problems too.

Scott- just wanted to say thank you.

I was feeling a little overwhelmed earlier today, and what you wrote helped me a lot. Thank you.

Are you a native English speaker? Just wondering.

thanks again

somatic problems definitely lead to psy problems too. Cancer and depression? pain and depression? etc etc...

Diagnosis and comprehension can be something difficult. No cancer. Isolated peripheral nerve problem which is a reason for increased stress and uncertainty of future since many years.

>and what you wrote helped me a lot

->I have a sense of delight.

I am not native English speaker.

ta you very much indeed.

Well, all bad things being connected, means that sometimes when we clear up one bad thing, a lot of other problems get better too.

When I sleep, I feel better, I function better, I'm a better person, a better friend, a better employee.

When you find something that helps you, even if it's something that makes your hair shinier, your teeth whiter, your shoes more comfortable, even something simple, it might have an effect on your mood and stress.

Take care Scott,
-ll

p.s. I have had dealings with many unpleasant neurologists. Of all the medical specialties, I have met many heartless, if not cruel neurologists in my life so far. Why? I have a few uncivil theories...

>> Exactly. You only have to change a a variable if possible. But some people can't change even variables.

>>Do you mean a psychiatrist or a neurologist?
Can you tell me you theories by babble-mail?
Often medical personal is very unfriendly, its
"normal". Some are friendly some are monsters
some you cant classify.

>>see you later alligator...?

Scott,
you are a smart, resourceful person. I am confident that you can change at least one variable! See, by reading this post, and helping people on Psycho-Babble, you are changing the course of your day. Who knows? Maybe something simple, repeated enough times can change your day, your week, or even your body for the better.

I'm off to try to find such a variable! Happy hunting-

-ll
