And another thing about my pdoc

Posted by Maxime on August 15, 2006, at 17:43:36

Okay, I know I have ranted and raved about my pdoc here. But I have another issue and I need some input.

The man works from his home. He has an answering maching in HIS office where the session takes place. This means I can hear who calls. That means other people can HEAR WHEN I CALL and leave a message. As a result, I only leave messages after hours. He will also answer the phone depending on who is leaving the message. ??????

Also, his wife comes into the room to bring him tea and a biscuit. WTF? I'm sorry, but that's just wrong.

Yet I can't tell him this. Am I the only one who sees something wrong here ... or am I just being picky?

I need out of this Province. Out of this city. Off this Planet.

Maxime ... who is in a very bitchy mood for no good reason.

Maxime, that sounds unprofessional, possibly unethical (for privacy and confidentiality reasons). To force any patient to listen the phone message left by another patient! or to put any patient in the position of having a message heard by anyone except himself-- Not acceptable.

As for having his wife come into the room during your appointment!-- also unacceptable.

You need to speak with him immediately. If you can't, for whatever reason, you need to find another pdoc. You shouldn't tolerate being in a situation like that.

Where did he get the idea that you can work in that manner?

Well, i wished you where in america, they would NEVER do that. That is totally confidencial.

First of all turn the danm awnsering machine to voice mail, what this man wants to hear other people here other people's problems, DING! why dont he just have a group session.

I can see why you have trouble with this doc.

I would ask him directly why is there an awnsering machine in this session which i can here?

And why have i not been properly medicated

Matt

Why did you give that terrible advice to RN? Thats the last kind of stuff she needs to her, with her struggling and all.

"Why did you give that terrible advice to RN?"

Keeping in mind that this site is for support, please don't say anything that might make others feel put down.

If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.

Thanks,

AuntieMel, acting as deputy for Dr. Bob.

She asked a question and I answered it. It was different scenarios.

She is not the only one who is suffering.

Thanks everyone.

It's not a Canadian thing ... in fact, he is from the UK. It's not a UK think either ... it's just him.

Finding another pdoc is not an option.

I will bring it up with him when I see him ... if I see him again. I missed my appointment last week and he hasn't returned my phone call.

Go read the above post, which starts with "How do you know when you are really going to do it?"

PLEASE DELETE THAT ENTIRE THREAD. For starters, discussing the steps you are taking toward suicide belongs on a different board in here. Secondly, "terrible" might have been the politically incorrect thing to say, perhaps "non-helpful" would have been better. When you read the thread, you will see what I am talking about.

That's better, Maxime

Thanks for providing her with the hotline suggestion. You carry a lot of weight in here. People listen to what you say. THANKS

Hi Maxime,

Well thanks for giving me at least a wry smile this morning, his wife brings him a "tea and buscuit during the session?" how quaint :-)

I definately think you should object but I think the fact that he even thinks this is acceptable makes me question his sensitivity as psychiatrist in the first place!

Why is seeing somebody else out of the question?

Denise

I can't get another psychiatrist because there aren't any. I would have to wait at least a year. I live in a big city .... but a sucky Province. I'll leave it at that. It's very frustrating.

And no one ever offers me tea! How RUDE! :)
