Pretty common.

Yes.

You can try taking zinc and selenium supplements. That's the standard advice given.

What do you mean by "forced" ? If this is some sort of outpatient commitment, perhaps you should consult with an attorney...you may be able to get a new doc or at least get a more tolerable form of treatment.

Supplements may help. Zince+selenium are standard; I think those, plus a multivitamin, possibly plus some B vitamins (ALL anticonvulsants mess with the Bs) and maybe a selenium sulfide shampoo (selsun blue, for example) might help.

Your hair should grow back, but it'd be easiest to just go with a different med.

I'm in a secondary treatment center for alcohol . The pdoc said either take the Depakote or leave . He has diagnosed me with Bipolar 2 ,he says the best med for Bipolar with alcohol abuse in men is Depakote and the chance of losing your hair is 1/1000 .

Help i know i need to take something but i don't want to lose my hair . What can i do?

Med I wondered the same thing. How can you be forced to take a med . Without a judge with a hearing? Love Phillipa

How high a dose is the pdoc offering? Hair loss is not rare, but not common either, especially at lower doses.

Also, your hair will grow back, so if any falls out, perhaps you could reassess.
