Sorry I left the board again after only one post a couple months back! Fact is, I believe it was a day or two after my last post that I begin to feel very ill. As if I were experiencing the worst cold I'd ever had in my life. Went to my GP the next day just hoping for some promethazine/codeine syrup or something similar... but he ended up finding all these unexplainable purple blotches (bruises, essentially) all over me that I'd failed somehow to notice. I was dx'd with thrombocytopenic purpura and erythema multiforme as a result of methylphenidate hypersensitivity, so I've been off that stuff for a while. Tried going back to Adderall, then Dexedrine, then Desoxyn, but my anxiety level was through the roof. My only other meds right now are Xanax 1mg b.i.d. (I've cut back my benzo dose extraordinarily, from the 16mg I used to take), Dalmane (flurazepam) 60-90mg as needed for sleep, and I've finally gotten to try out the Emsam patch, 20mg (6mg/24hr).
Oh, and I also take Avapro 150mg for mild hypertension, just for the record's sake.
Well, my panic and social anxiety are still quite nonexistent, even at this "low" dose of Xanax. That, I am very thrilled about. I feel as if I may be receiving some benefit from Emsam, but it's hard to be sure. From others' experiences, is 12 days enough to really make a difference?
Also, since my last post, I've discovered something new about my diagnosis that really helps fit *all* the puzzle pieces together. I've been examined by several psychologists, psychiatrists, and neurologists over the past few months... it seems I have Asperger Syndrome. Really explains so much of my life... my trains of thought... my reactions to what goes on around me..... soooo much more than anything has in the past. So I'm in intensive therapy for high-functioning autism now.
I know I've been a bad poster, lol, but I'll be sure to start checking back here again starting today. I miss this board!!!
Cheers,
Michael

Sorry to here about the platelet and SJS stuff. Glad to here you feeling better, though. I hope the diagnosis helps you better understand your history and promotes a better future.

Good to see you back. Well at least you have a real diagnosis now. And thankfully feeling better. I think a lot of the posters have felt better on EMSAM in a short while. Love Phillipa

Hi Michael
Nice to hear from you!
I was thinking about the Avapro. You might find that you don't need an antihypertensive now you're not taking any stimulants.
Regards
Ed

>Also, I have lower blood pressure on Emsam. I think a few other PB posters have also experienced that side effect of Emsam.

I have an appt. for some lab work and my potential refill of Avapro in a week; of course I'll keep taking it if I need to, but from what you all have said, it sounds as if I may not (one can only hope).
It's great seeing all of you on here too, btw!!
Cheers,
Michael
